Indian Premier League came to an end on
Sunday night and with that ended an intense competition which witnessed some of
the best matches that has ever been played in T20 history. Finally, the team
(Kolkata knight Riders) which was so consistent throughout the tournament
bagged the trophy defeating the defending champions Chennai Super Kings at
The two-month long completion saw some
great all-round display of talents from various players.
Listing few adorable performers of this
Gambhir (Kolkata Knight Riders):Gambhir, the
southpaw came into the tournament with a image that he had wipe off from his
previous outing as KKR Captain, He took charge right from the world go. Since
then Gambhir has been an potential leader and an outstanding batsman show
casing his talents on all grounds. He played some of the crucial defining
innings of this season and was the only consistent batsmen for KKR.. He ended
as the second highest run-scorer with 590 runs just next to massive hitting West
Indian all rounder Chris Gayle.
Gayle (Royal Challengers Bangalore): The King of
Caribbean was on song once again in the tournament. Gayle storm had a struck a
petit 11 year old girl in the stand Gayle in this season played some tremendous
knocks and once again won the orange cap with 733 runs against his name. He
single-handedly won RCB many matches and the day he flopped. He also had the
maximum number of sixes with 59 times the ball crossing the rope.
Rahane (Rajasthan Royals):Rahane looked in the
best of his form and played innings that helped Rajasthan Royals win in the
first half of the tournament. Rahane, was in all praise from his captain Rahul
Dravid for the way he carried his innings in most of the match winning
performances. He will in the top of other contender for the place in the T20
world cup that is going to happen in Srilanka.
Dhawan (Deccan Chargers):Shikhar Dhawan’s batting was so much
appreciated by everyone
next to that of Rahane,
He scored almost 570 runs with an average of 40 which is so good at the
T20 stages, but still the fellow members of his team didn’t back him up with
their performance . He played some impressive shots which made people think why
he hasn't got place in the Indian team.
Narine (Kolkata Knight Riders):The young West
Indian has made a perfect start for his
career. Spinners are never treated with mercy in Sub-Continents if they don’t bowl
with consistency and with variations, but this magical man from the land of Bodyline bowlers was at his best containing almost all the batsman. He bagged around 23 wickets with an impressive
average of little more than 5 runs an over which itself adds to his performance
in the shortest format of the game.
Morkel (Delhi Daredevils):The tall South African pacer
proved again to be one of the best bowler in the world, claiming 24 wickets
this season and his spells were so threatening and he won matches single handedly for his
team. Excluding him from the decider match against Chennai Super Kings cost the
team so dearly, that their captain Sehwag admitted that he had made one of the
worst cricketing decision.
Steyn (Deccan Chargers):Dale Steyn, wow, yet
another performer of Deccan Charger for whom the effort was not backed up by
the team mates, He was so much pumped up and was firing the ball with
tremendous accuracy and hitting the target with his great line and length, he
had played a crucial part in few victories that Deccan chargers tasted this
Awana (Kings XI Punjab): Awana, the only Indian
bowler who can be recognized and appreciated for the effort he put, although he
has consistently performed in the domestic level, he held a low card value when
it came to bowling to international players but he proved everybody wrong with
some of his spells being so fiery and attacking, where he earned world class
players respect. He took 17 wickets which is good from an Indian perspective
which lacks good front line bowlers.
